Rockfield House is an exclusively vegetarian B&B, catering for adults only, in a quiet rural setting close to Matlock, with easy access to the enormous range of attractions that Derbyshire and the Peak District has to offer. Your host is Cordon Vert qualified (with the Vegetarian Society) and is delighted to provide exciting and innovative evening meals. We are ideally placed for a variety of outdoor pursuits and can offer a wide range of instructor led activities and access to the enormous range of attractions that Derbyshire and the Peak District has to offer.
Wake up to birdsong in our two very comfortable bedrooms.
Both bedrooms have en-suite facilities, Freeview TV, WiFi access,
a hospitality tray, an honesty fridge and a hairdryer.
The Accommodation
Our unusual home is on three levels. We have one bedroom on the upper level (‘Upstairs’) accessed by two flights of stairs and a second bedroom (‘Downstairs’) at ground level.

Upstairs
A cosy twin bedded room with a modern en-suite shower room and separate private sitting room. Both rooms have beautiful views across the garden and beyond to the surrounding countryside.
(NB At a reduced rate, groups of 3 or 4 can be accommodated ‘Upstairs’ as the private sitting room has a convertible futon bed and there are additional toilet and hand basin facilities).
Downstairs
An especially quiet and private large double room with a comfortable seating area. It has a luxurious en-suite bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.
Our guest dining room and lounge is on the first floor and has an outstanding view across the valley. In this room we keep information, guides and maps of the local area and we have compiled a number of suggested local walks. On cold days a log fire creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. The aspect of the house ensures we have sun all day (if its shining!) so on warm days you might choose to relax in the garden or dine on the deck.
Food
We pride ourselves on offering exciting and innovative, home cooked vegetarian food with delicious 3 course evening meals available. Whatever and whenever you choose to eat with us, we want you to be wholly delighted and completely satisfied. Kate holds the Cordon Vert Diploma awarded (at distinction level) by The Vegetarian Society.
Outdoor activities
Rockfield House is ideally located for walking and cycling activities in the surrounding area. Additionally, we can arrange a number of instructed outdoor activities in the local area including:
• Rock climbing
• Abseiling
• Canoeing
• Caving
• Hill walking
• Orienteering
Your host Martin is a qualified outdoor instructor and has access to a range of outdoor equipment in order for you to take full advantage of the outdoor playground that is Derbyshire.
We can supply all the personal kit you may need, and a packed lunch if you’re out all day. All you need to bring is a bit of enthusiasm – and we’ll do the rest!
There are a number of options available according to your requirements – either self-managed or instructor led.
