Southmead is a beautifully refurbished luxury Edwardian guest house which opened in the Summer of 2008 for Bed and Breakfast. We are situated in the historic spa town of Buxton and are surrounded by the magnificent Peak District National Park. We are ideally located within walking distance of the town centre and with easy access to the Goyt valley and beyond.
This elegant Edwardian property overlooks the Cavendish golf course and the hills beyond making for a very comfortable and pleasant environment for your holiday. Our bed and breakfast accommodation will give you the flexibility to enjoy the surrounding area. Buxton itself provides a wealth of interesting places to visit and things to do but is also in an ideal position for visiting the many famous towns and country houses in the area. For those who like to walk you may wish to explore the rugged peaks to the north or the gentle hills and dales to the south.
Our Edwardian House was constructed in local stone around 1905. It was a substantial family home until converted to its current use by George and Ruth in 2007.
At Southmead we offer a variety of en-suite bedrooms including twin, king-size and double. You will always be assured of a good breakfast in our guest dining room with a choice of cereals, fruit juices and cooked breakfasts. We normally offer a two course evening meal with a choice of meat or vegetarian main dish. For those who require it we offer a packed lunch. On a warm, sunny evening you may wish to enjoy the garden at Southmead and perhaps even try a game of garden croquet. Alternatively, you may wish to take advantage of our spacious guest lounge with its ample supply of books, maps, local information and games.

We stayed in this wonderful B&B for five nights during the Buxton Fringe. It was very friendly, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was great. We would highly recommend a stay at Southmead and hope to return next year.

The hotel is welcoming and everything is well-maintained.
Breakfasts paid great attention to quality.
Our hosts Ruth and George could not have been better - most helpful and obliging - they really seem to enjoy what they do.
I would have no hesitation in going there again.

Had a really great two night stay with a friend while on a mate's 50th birthday weekend. A lovely welcoming and spotlessly clean guest house run by the very friendly Ruth and George. An excellent stay, thanks, will definitely recommend and try to be back soon!
